Sad state of affairs
The mage and the hunter are both in guilds that are very disappointing. There are times when there are at most four people logged in. And I'm one of the four! Usually there is only one other person signed on while I'm playing. The really bad news for me is that I fell into these guilds by accident, therefor I have no real idea of how to find a "good" guild. When I read other blogs, like BigRedKitty, Lienna's Log, or Crittical QQ I get to see how much fun they're having and I am not. Jealous? Oh you bet! Now I have to face the fact that I will have to do things that I really don't like to do in order to find and join new guilds. Just like in real life, I have stayed at the same job for almost twenty years because I can't stand to do job interviews. So I really don't want to answer those interview questions good guilds make you answer. I could join one of those guilds that advertise in-game that they are looking for new members, but I think that I would have to be very lucky not to end up in a drama filled guild or worse. In chess this is called zugzwang. More to follow...

I've got the same problem. Both the guilds my pally have been in have fizzled out, slowly dying. Luckily BBB's Sidhe Devils on Kael'Thas US have a realy simple app going on his blog. So I might switch mains then to Kael'THas...
ReplyDeleteTotal sympathy with this one. I joined a guild last year that had been set up ny a group of friends who some months later had a big falling out in real life. To make matters worse they didn't tell the guild so for two months we had no guild master or officers. Chaos! Eventually those of us left in the guild claimed it for ourselves and I ended up as guild master, which was not a role I was looking for, but after being vocal about the need to move on I could hardly say no to it when 'volunteered'.
ReplyDeleteSadly, trying to keep the guild going has become a nightmare as we have steadily lost so many of our higher level players to raiding or bigger guilds.
I shall persevere a bit longer but I think eventally I shall have to jump ship in order to preserve the quality of my own WoW experience - and sanity.
Couple things you can do. But first you need to figure out what type of guild you want. Typically they are social/leveling guilds, pvp guilds (rare), and some sort of raiding guild (hardcore or casual)
ReplyDelete1) Go to the realm forum and look at guild annoucements. Most of them are for raiding guilds, so I'm not sure if you are interested.
2) Sit in a capital city for an hour or so and look at the trade guild annoucements. I think you can do a /who guild_name to see how many people of that guild are on. Also you can go the wow armory and get some guild info.
3) While leveling or whatever, especially in PUG instances, look for people who seem friendly and ask them about their guild, if they can recommend it, etc.
I'm a co-leader of the largest guild on the server (100 accounts). We didn't plan on it, it just kinda happened that we have a huge guild. It has pros and cons. We have some regulars and people who play once a week if that. But anyway we are not selective, and all you need is to whisper me to get into that guild. We have a website with forums, and we'd like you to register with it, but there aren't any trial runs and the like, that's only for hardcore guilds. Hope this helps.
